The Journey

Its been a while since I have blogged and my hiatus has been a up and down journey since I last posted. The one thing that has kept me sane is jiu jitsu and coaching wrestling. I had moved to the Alameda area in 2010 to work for the state and was looking for a new gym to train at since I didnt want to make that drive to Pleasant Hill anymore. Looking for a new gym was tough considering I had spent a good amount of time at the Gracie Sports Center. I had found a Alliance gym in Hayward but those guys had shut down after the instructor was never really there and one of the blue belts there had told me about this place called Rio Combat which was in Alameda which was a newer place but a place worth checking out. First time there and was sold instantly the facility was awesome and the instructor was cool. 3 years have gone by there and I have achieved allot. I had finally earned the rank of blue belt from my professor and the journey still continues.

Random

I can't wait till I go to Las Vegas to compete at the Grapplers Quest. I'm more motivated now then the first time I competed and I know now what to expect. This will give me another reason to go out there and have fun and get my mind clear of what goes on here in my daily life. The last year has been great competing again and I would have to say that I am in the best shape that i've been in the last 9 years. The biggest thing is doing this for myself and those who have helped shaped me into the person that i've become. I know I have a big heart and my work ethic is there and I know with training hard each hour of every single day I know that I can achieve what I set myself out to do. When the next year comes around I hope for it to be the year I finally dont look back and move more foward with my life. I've become more non reliant on other people and have been looking for more ways to do things for myself trying to manage things right so I wouldn't have to ask for anyones help for anything. I have 6 more classes to take but looks like i'll be changing my career field again hopefully by next summer or fall i'll have a new job once I finish these law enforcement programs I get into at the school i'm at now or if I get into the police academy i'll be good to go.

The first task though is finishing this semester out with hopeful passing grades and then going to vegas and winning my skill division and the absolute divisions and hopefully coming close to that 25 match mark I had set for myself when I started doing Brazilian Jiu jitsu. I know now that I have to really work for a better life style and more in a more positive direction.
